Of interest to any Lancaster or Just Jane enthusiast will be the scans above and below. Courtesy of Shirley Russell and Russavia, I have the greatest pleasure in sharing with you a selection of pages from a 1960s classic aviation title, and surely the first book that NX611 features in; Lancaster – The Story of a Famous Bomber, published by Harleyford and produced by D.A.Russell in the 1960s.

Making this publication even more notable is the fact it was autographed at Biggin Hill by the aircrew of G-ASXX/NX611 who flew the aircraft from Australia to the United Kingdom in the Spring of 1965.

A rare document indeed! A special edition of the book signed here by: Squadron Leader Keith McCarthy, RAAF, Navigator; Don Delaney, Flight Engineer; Arthur Johnson, Reserve Pilot; Wing Commander John Hampshire, RAAF, Captain; Wing Commander John Nicholls, RAAF, Second Officer; Barrell Farrar, Journalist; George Parlby, Flight Steward and Douglas Smedley, RAAF, First Officer.

This classic title can be found for sale on the internet, on websites such as eBay and Amazon. The book has numerous pictures and masses of detailed information and although dated, is still a must have for your book collection.
