One of the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre's keystone events, the Rover & MG Car Rally took place on 9th July. Despite the inclement
weather in the morning, a good number of owners undertook journeys to attend the rally, some driving hundreds of miles to participate.
Numerous examples of most
models and variants produced by Rover over the preceding decades could be found parked around the museum site. Once such highlight was PSY 716, a 1948 Rover 12 - one of only 200 built. Also on
display were a healthy number of MG cars, parked alongside resident Avro Lancaster Just Jane. Naturally Just Jane featured in the event and with Sqn Ldr Rick Groombridge at the controls she performed two taxy runs with Keith Brenchley and Liz Dodds
assisting. Towards the end of the day, Spitfire TE311 from the neighbouring Battle of Britain
Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby, performed three passes over the museum site - much to the satisfaction of the event's numerous visitors.
The next major event at the
Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is on 6th August. This date sees the excellent annual ticket only airshow taking place, with nearly five hours of flying displays from quality types and acts
such as the Wildcat Aerobatic Team, P-51 Mustang, Hawker Hurricane, PBY Catalina, the Great War Display Team, T-28 Fennec and many more! For more information please
