Proving that a weekday visit to East Kirkby is always worthwhile, a look at the visiting aircraft area provided the opportunity to photograph 1941 vintage Taylorcraft BC-12-65, G-BOLB. Based, I believe, at Spanhoe Lodge near Corby, the bright yellow aircraft looked great under the summer sky.
Parked alongside the Taylorcraft were two more slightly more modern examples of general aviation; F172M Skyhawk G-GWYN and a 1961 vintage Cessna 150A, G-ARFO. Homebuilt Zenair CH601XL Zodiac G-CGVZ was also an interesting visitor.
Avro Lancaster Just Jane performed two taxy runs in beautiful summer weather. The second run at 13:30 resulted in a nice photo opportunity, with one of the over-primed Merlin 24 engines belching smoke and flames on start up.
Primetime Media were on site filming for a new DVD of the Lancaster. Look out for the completed feature at the September Airshow!
