The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre’s third airshow held in joint aid of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund and the further restoration of Lancaster NX611 Just Jane was a massive success!

With kind weather and a record attendance in the region of 3000 people, the gathered crowds were treated to some great flying displays from the SWIP Duo, Breitling Team and the 'Attitude Inc' Yak-52.

Other acts included possibly lesser seen display aircraft such as Bird Dog, Autogyro, Fokker Triplane and a parachute drop from a Jackaroo! But the undoubted star of the show was the Duxford based Catalina, which looked stunning operating off East Kirkby's grass strip. The Catalina visit marks the landing of the largest aircraft (based on wing size) at East Kirkby since 57 Squadron operated Avro Lincolns from the airfield post war.

Next year's RAFBF Airshow will have to be moved from its usual August date due to the London Olympics, with a date in September currently in mind by the organisers, but this is still subject to final confirmation.
